PBS TeacherLine, funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, is committed to helping PreK-12 teachers acquire the skills they need to prepare students for a successful future. PBS TeacherLine provides online professional development through facilitated and standards-based courses, supportive and collaborative learning communities, and exemplary Internet-based resources.
PBS TeacherLine offers over 100 courses in mathematics, reading/language arts, instructional technology, instructional strategies, and science. Courses are facilitated by specially trained educators, combining the best of face-to-face professional development with the best of online instructional design.
Virginia's PBS TeacherLine Courses and National PBS TeacherLine Courses
PBS TeacherLine is made available to Virginia educators in two ways. In both cases the basic course content is exactly the same.
- Virginia's PBS TeacherLine courses are taught by Virginia facilitators and are open to Virginia educators only. Virginia standards and issues are addressed.
- National PBS TeacherLine courses are taught by facilitators from various states and are open to educators from across the country.
